Despite being one of the smallest continents in terms of land, the large number of isolated islands found in Oceania have resulted in a huge number of infamous endemic species. From the huge array of marsupial mammals found in Australia, to the large flightless kakapo of New Zealand. Its climate ranges from tropical in Papua New Guinea, to temperate in New Zealand.

OCEANS
Beech Hill Primary School, West Denton
The ocean covers more than 70% of the world’s surface. It is so vast, that the majority still remains unmapped and unexplored. It is also thought that there are huge numbers of animal and plant species living in our ocean yet to be classified, or even discovered. Habitats range from warm coral reefs of the shallows, sometimes known as rainforests of the ocean, to hydrothermal vents found in the deepest, darkest depths, supporting green turtle and dumbo octopus alike.
